Requirements:

1. ACTUAL PASSPORT

You must submit your actual passport. The visa will be stamped on a page in your passport. Your passport must have at least six months of validity left beyond your intended stay in Nigeria, and must have at least TWO blank visa pages side by side. 2. VISA APPLICATION FOR NIGERIA

Complete Online Visa Application for Nigeria. Each applicant should complete the visa application online, print and sign the form.

  • Select the Nigerian Consulate in New York as the processing consulate, and send your documents to us.
  • Pay government fee $180.00 with your credit card. Print the Google payment receipt for credit card payments and include with your application. If payment is made by mailing a money order, the confirmation of payment must be included with the application. Visa application cannot be processed without proof of direct payment.

3. TWO PHOTOGRAPHS

Submit two professional 2″ x 2″ color passport photos. Snapshots, photocopies and computer pictures are not accepted. Photos must be:

  • Taken within six months to reflect your current appearance;
  • Taken in full-face front view directly facing the camera. Full face must be visible. Head must be centered and not tilted;
  • Do not wear eyeglasses in the photo;
  • Clear. Blurry, underexposed, overexposed and low quality photos are not accepted;
  • With a plain white or off-white background;
  • With a neutral facial expression and both eyes open.

4. LETTER OF INVITATION FROM NIGERIA

If visiting relatives or friends in Nigeria, a signed letter of invitation from host explaining the relationship to the applicant and the purpose of travel. In addition, the letter must indicate length of stay, place of stay, and contact information. In addition, the letter must state: "We hereby accept full immigration responsibilities".

  • If the host is a Nigerian citizen, submit a copy of the host’s passport.
  • If the host is a resident in Nigeria, submit a copy of the host's resident permits and the information page of their passports.

5. FLIGHT ITINERARY

Computer generated flight itinerary from the airline or travel agency, or copy of airline tickets. Non-refundable tickets or reservations should not be purchased until visa and passport are secured and in your possession.

6. PROOF OF LODGING

Copy of hotel confirmation, or cruise reservation. If staying in various hotels, provide copy of each reservation. A letter from inviting family member or friend is required if they are providing accommodations to the applicant.

7. PROOF OF SUFFICIENT FUND

Provide evidence of sufficient fund to support your stay. Example: copy of most recent bank statement with account number blacked out.

8. MINORS

Child under age of 16 who is not traveling with both parents or a legal guardian must provide a notarized letter of consent signed by the non-accompanying parent(s) or guardian authorizing the consulate to issue a visa to the minor. A copy of the child's birth certificate and guardianship or custody agreement documents are also required.

Letter from employer on company letterhead introducing the applicant, indicating the applicant's employment status and position held in the company, and clearly stating purpose of visit. The business letter must also indicate who will be financially responsible for the applicant and must provide detailed contact information in Nigeria.

A signed letter of invitation from sponsor (either host company or individual) in Nigeria explaining the relationship to the applicant and the purpose of travel to Nigeria.
